India may not be the first place tohttp://edition.cnn.com/2015/02/16/world/sula-vineyards-rajeev-samant/index.html# spring to mind when it comes to fine wine, but the country's tradition of viticulture stretches back for centuries.
India has produced wine throughout its history, but its popularity waned after phylloxera, a pest which also heavily affected European wine production in the 19th century, ravaged many of the subcontinent's vineyards.
However, one man is on a quest to get Indians drinking the grape nectar once again. Rajeev Samant's journey to becoming a winemaker has been unusual -- he studied engineering at Stanford University and got a high-flying job at Oracle after graduating. However, he left it all behind to return to his father's birthplace, Nashik, a city in western India, and started experimenting with different vines.
"I just noticed that Nashik was full of grapes, and no one was making wine in this beautiful place," he says.
Initially, Samant had a modest goal -- to merely produce wine that was pleasant and drinkable. However, with the help of a noted Californian winemaker Kerry Damskey, he soon realized that the terroir had the potential for much more.
"Things went to a different level. We started from selling just 40,000 bottles of wine to something like 10 million bottles of wine... and it's a beautiful business that has brought not just profit to us but to the greater community at large," he says.
International acclaim
Samant's Sula Vineyards were the first in India to be featured in Wine Spectator, a respected industry magazine, in 2002. Today, Sula is India's top wine producer, holding about 65% of the country's wine market.
The entrepreneur's gamble proved successful, but what had made him abandon a prestigious Silicon Valley job and throw himself into a new venture?
"I really wanted to do something that I was really passionate about when I wake up every day, and that was something that I wasn't feeling in my corporate job. I strapped on a backpack and just started moving across the world, landing up here in Nashik.
"There is a world of difference between the way I feel now about what I'm doing, full of passion, compared to what I used to do. Every day I'm so excited to take on the challenges. It's my baby, it's as simple as that," he says.
Meet the man who wants the world to drink Indian wine
Maybe our brains won't shut off, or we
find ourselves tossing and turning all night, unable to get comfortable.
Whatever the reason for your lack of sleep, it takes a toll. Studies
abound linking sleeplessness with increased risk of serious health
problems such as diabetes and stroke, as well as depression, impaired
judgment, memory lapses and other cognitive deficiencies.
Thankfully,
there are some easy yoga-based techniques you can use nightly to fall
asleep and stay asleep. It only takes about six minutes to leverage your
body's natural sleep-facilitating processes.
These
are the same stretching, breathing and meditative methods used by my
professional athlete clients. As a yoga trainer for numerous sports
teams, it's my job to help athletes restore their bodies and minds to
perform at optimum levels. This includes creating sleep-facilitation
programs to counter the effects of grueling game and travel schedules,
so players can feel refreshed and ready.
I've designed this six-minute sleep program to be effective and accessible for most people, not just athletes.
It
begins with two postures done bedside to address the tension that
builds over the course of the day, particularly in your lower back and
hip flexors. By lengthening and realigning these areas, you can prevent
waking in the night due to stiffness, aches and pains.
Functional squat
Lengthens spine, especially low back; realigns pelvis and hips
Standing
with your feet hip-distance apart and arms extended at shoulder level,
exhale and sit back into a deep squat. Maintain weight in your heels.
Avoid allowing your knees and/or toes to turn out. If you have
difficulty squatting all the way down without lifting your heels or
feeling unsteady, hold onto something secure, like your bed frame, for
support.
Take three long deep breaths while squatting. Focus on relaxing your lower back with each exhalation.
If
you experience discomfort in your ankles, knees or shins, try widening
your stance and making sure you're dropping back into your hips as
opposed to pushing forward into your knees.
Warrior one with side bend
Lengthens calves, hip flexors and side waist muscles
From
standing, step your right foot back, placing your heel down with your
toes angled slightly out. Bend your left knee to align above your ankle.
Keep your back leg straight. Place your left hand on your left hip. If
balance is a challenge, place your left hand on your bed or other
support, instead of your hip.
Inhale
as you reach your right arm up and over your head to the left,
stretching your right side and front of your hip. Exhale to hold the
posture. Inhale and return your arm to your side. Step back to standing.
Repeat on the opposite side, then get into bed.
Once
in bed, practicing a gentle twist to promote blood flow in the abdomen
helps initiate the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the
"rest and digest" aspect of our autonomic nervous system, which lowers
your heart rate and blood pressure and inhibits the production of stress
hormones.
Supine bent-knee twist
Stretches
hip, groin and low-back muscles; increases blood flow in the pelvis and
abdomen; enhances mid-back mobility; opens chest
Lie
on your back with your legs extended and arms at your sides. Place a
pillow under your head, if desired. Hug your left knee into your chest.
Inhale as you place your right hand on the outside of your left thigh
and reach your left arm to the left. Exhale fully as you gently twist
from your mid-back to bring your left knee across your body to the
right.
Take two more long, deep breaths. Unwind and repeat on the other side.
Employing
deep diaphragmatic breathing supports the restorative action of your
parasympathetic system. And because the diaphragm also works as a
postural muscle, attaching to the ribcage and lumbar spine (low back)
and running through the hip flexors, diaphragmatic breathing promotes
proper ribcage, back and pelvis position, which decreases the likelihood
of waking due to discomfort or the need to change position.
Pairing deep breathing with backward-counting meditation is a simple yet effective way to focus and relax a wandering mind.
Diaphragmatic breathing and backward-count meditation
Get
comfortable with your head on one pillow and another placed under your
knees. If you prefer a side-lying position, lie on your left side with a
pillow between your legs.
Close your
eyes. Inhale through your nose, filling the lowest lobes of your lungs
and back of your ribcage. You should feel your lower ribs expand
outward, as opposed to only inflating your upper chest. Exhale and focus
on your lower ribs internally rotating and descending. It's important
that you feel your ribcage release downward as you exhale for proper
function of your diaphragm. And a full exhalation is necessary to raise
CO2 levels in your blood enough to inspire a natural, functional
inhalation. When you think you've fully exhaled, contract your abdominal
muscles to see if you can push out any remaining air. You'll likely
find some! Once you've fully exhaled, pause before inhaling.
Try
to lengthen and deepen your breathing to match this pattern: 5-count
inhalation, 5-count exhalation, and 2-count pause after exhalation.
Once
you've established the breathing pattern, begin counting your breaths
backward from 20 to 1. Concentrate your mind on an image of each number
and the sensations of your breathing. If you still haven't drifted off
after 20 breaths (approximately three to four minutes), repeat the
process, starting at 30 or 40 breaths.
Practicing
this six-minute yoga program before bed should deliver consistent
quality rest by creating an optimal physical (muscle relaxation and body
positioning) and physiological (parasympathetic nervous system and
diaphragmatic breathing) foundation for falling asleep and staying asleep.
Sleep better with six minutes of bedtime yoga. very well
You may have spent many years trying to avoid getting pregnant but once you’ve made the decision to try for a baby you want it to happen as soon as possible!
There are a number of ways you can maximise your chances of getting pregnant in super, quick time.
It’s not an exact science but if you are under 35, in good health and are having regular unprotected sex it should happen within about six months to a year.
Sometimes it’s not that easy with work and family commitments. If you want to get pregnant you need to make the time, to make love.
"There’s no need to have sex every day," says fertility expert and midwife Zita West: "Three times a week is fine as the sperm survives for 3 to 5 days."
Marilyn Glenville author of Getting Pregnant Faster agrees: "Don’t have sex every day, every other day is best to allow the sperm to build up in between."
"Get to know your own cycle, says Dr Diane Farrar research midwife at the Bradford Institute for Health Research." It’s easier if you are on a 28 days cycle, if not keep a diary so you know your optimum time."
Ovulation happens 14 days before you start your period. Once you’ve ovulated an egg is only viable for a day, so 24 hours after ovulation you’ve missed your most fertile time.
In fact a ten year study found that having sex starting 6 days prior to ovulation is the most conducive to achieving conception.
"There are lots of gadgets to help such as tracker apps or ovulation predictor kits, says Siobhan Freegard from Netmums. "Or you can look for your body’s own signs."
Don’t make it a commando mission to get pregnant though, you need to stay relaxed. You partner might not be able to perform to order either.
If timing and predictor testing is stressing you out, Zita says: "Stay relaxed and throw away your thermometer and charts."
It may take a few months off the pill for your periods to go back to normal but once you stop using it you are able to conceive.
Zita says: "Sometimes it can take your body a while to get back to normal but you are in fact more fertile when you first come off the pill.

As Forbes points out:
As the name might imply, there are a lot of items on this list of ways to make money from the internet (over 200 to be more specific), so be prepared for a lot of scrolling because this is one seriously long infographi
1. Use YouTube to get traffic to your website and blog.
If you’ve got a website or blog which brings in income, you need traffic. Many websites were hard-hit by Google’s Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird updates. If this happened to you, you’re hurting. You can use YouTube to not only regain traffic, but also increase it. Get started using the Creator Playbook. Once you’re set up, consider repurposing some older content into videos, as well as creating new videos. Make sure that you link to your own website in the first line of your video descriptions, so you can funnel your YouTube traffic to where you want it to go.2. Create products and promote them on YouTube.
If you’re creating your own products or would like to, YouTube offers unlimited ways for you to promote your products and make sales. Products you can create include ebooks, apps, art, and music. Create your products, and add them to a shopping cart. Then use YouTube to promote them. As we mentioned above, add a link to your product in your video’s description, so that viewers can buy.3. Sell others’ products as an affiliate marketer.
“Affiliate marketing” means selling products in exchange for a commission. Hundreds of thousands of companies offer attractive deals to affiliate marketers who promote their products, including huge companies, like Amazon and eBay, as well as smaller companies. Additionally, there are many affiliate networks you can join. These networks include ClickBank, Commission Junction, and ShareASale.com.

4. Get creative: Create a Web TV series.
Love telling stories? YouTube lets you create your own Web TV shows. You’re limited only by your imagination… and your budget. You can create a comedy series, a drama series, or your own talk show. Be aware that YouTube limits your show’s length to 15 minutes. To upload longer videos, you’ll need to increase your limit. If you’re a frustrated TV or screen writer, get a few friends together, and record your own TV shows. You never know. If you get lots of views, you may develop a new career.5. Become a YouTube personality.
YouTube stars can make a lot of money. BlueXephos for example, has almost a billion channel views. At $7 per thousand video views, the income soon mounts up. If you’ve got quirky ideas, or are passionate about your interests, develop your YouTube channel. You never know, you may be the next YouTube star.6. Monetize your videos with the YouTube Partner Program.
After you’ve created several videos, it’s time to join the YouTube Partner Program. All you need to do is enable your channel for monetization, and you’ll receive your share of the income from advertising on YouTube. Just as the YouTube stars do, you’ll get paid for each thousand views on your videos. Click this link to get started – your first step is to verify your channel.7. Teach: share your knowledge with tutorials.
Tutorials are huge on YouTube. If you know how to do something, you can teach others, and make money from your videos. Beauty videos are popular. Michelle Phan for example has over 1.3 million views.

8. Test-market your products.
YouTube is an amazing resource for market research – you can soon discover whether your brilliant, innovative idea is likely to be profitable. For example, if you’ve got an idea for a product, but need funding, create some videos before you create a Kickstarter.com campaign. The views and comments on your videos will tell you whether your idea is viable in its present form. The YouTube audience can even help you to make it viable, so that your efforts to get funding are successful.9. Become an expert on meta data: use keywords to get an audience.
One hundred HOURS of video are uploaded to YouTube every MINUTE. This means that there’s huge competition for attention. You need to do everything you can to ensure that your videos get found. Your videos’ meta data will help. “Meta data” is data which gives information about your videos. In its Creator Playbook, YouTube tells you how to create your meta data:YouTube is the world’s second-largest search engine, and it uses metadata – your video’s title, tags and description – to index your video correctly. To maximize your presence in search, promotion, suggested videos and ad-serving, make sure your metadata is well optimized.Optimizing your videos for search makes the difference between success and failure, so be sure to do it.
10. Build your brand using YouTube.
As marketing guru Tom Peters pointed out way back in 1997, you’re a brand, and you have power. YouTube helps you to amplify YOU. Whatever you’re doing, and whatever your job, YouTube can help you to become known for your strengths, and make money. Even if you have no clear idea on how you could make money on YouTube, get started creating videos about your interests. You may just stumble across a gold mine… just as the people who turned their pets into stars have done.11. Turn your child or pet into a star (and make money).
Two cats, Lil Bub and Grumpy Cat, started out on YouTube, and have become worldwide stars, with book deals.
Grumpy Cat and Lil Bub
As Forbes points out:
“You do not have to be a singer to become a YouTube star. If you are lucky, you could shoot a video of your child, pet, or a double rainbow that strikes a chord and goes viral.”So keep your video camera handy. If you see something cute, video it, and upload the video. (Don’t forget the meta data.) You never know who or what will be the next video sensation. Create that sensation, and you’ll make money. So there you have it – eleven creative ways you can make money on YouTube.

Tips To Make Money On Internet
1
Set up and build your YouTube channel. Your channel is your personal presence on YouTube. Each YouTube account has one channel attached to it. A YouTube account is the same as a Google account, and creating a YouTube account will grant you access to other Google products, such as Gmail and Drive.
Create your account or use your existing one. Add keywords to help people find your channel. You can add keywords by navigating to the Advanced section of your Channel Settings. Make sure that your keywords are relevant to your content.
Your user name can also work for or against you. If it’s short, easy to remember, and original, people will be more apt to remember you. However if you are using an existing account, just stay with it. It doesn't help if you keep changing accounts.

2
Add content. Try to upload content that is high quality, and isn't super long. (This option can vary depending on what type of content you decide to upload) Also try to upload regularly and stay consistent with your uploads.
Even if your content isn't great at first, keep at it. Practice makes perfect. Try to make each video better than the last. You will often learn as you go.
Improve your content by either using a better camera or trying better editing software or techniques. Also try to improve the way things are filmed. Use a tripod, have a friend help you or light your scenes better. It all helps for a better end product which in turn helps you get a better audience.
By uploading regularly you can help hold an audience. People are more likely to subscribe if you add content on regular schedule, and maintain that schedule as much as possible.
Make sure to tag your videos with key words that describe the content, as well as an eye-catching description. These will help drive people to your video from YouTube searches.
Earn Money on YouTube Step 3.jpg
3
Gain an audience. Building an audience is key to increasing your monetization. You need people to watch your ads in order to make any money off of them. There is no one secret to getting more subscribers, just make the best content that you can and they will come to you.
Keep uploading content and try to get people hooked. Send your video out on Twitter and Facebook. Share it with people. Distribute it elsewhere on the internet. Subscribers are essential to becoming a partner.
Interact with your viewers by responding to comments and making occasional videos directly related to viewer comments and questions. Connecting with your community will bring more members into that community.
Earn Money on YouTube Step 4.jpg
4
Monetize your videos. In order to start earning money on your videos, you’ll need to enable monetization. This means you are allowing YouTube to place ads in your video. This also means that you acknowledge that there is no copyrighted material in your video.
You can monetize a video as it uploads by clicking the Monetization tab and checking the “Monetize with Ads” box.
To monetize a video after it has been uploaded, open your Video Manager and click the “$” sign next to the video that you want to monetize. Check the “Monetize with Ads” box.
Earn Money on YouTube Step 5.jpg
5
Setup Google AdSense. You can setup Google AdSense for free at the AdSense website. Click the Sign Up Now button to begin creating your account. You must be 18 years or older to create your own account. If you are younger than that, you will need an adult to help you.
You need either PayPal or a bank account and a valid mailing address as well as other information so AdSense can verify who you are and who to send the money to. You only gain money per ad click and a smaller amount per view but it adds up over time. This is why having an audience is key.
Earn Money on YouTube Step 6.jpg
6
Check your analytics. Once you have some videos online, monetized, and being viewed, you can check out the analytics on them to see how they are performing. Click the Analytics option in your Channel menu. Here you can view estimated earnings, ad performance, video views, demographics and more.
Use these tools to see how your content is resonating with your audience. You can change your content or your marketing if you’re finding that you aren’t attracting the users that you want to.
Earn Money on YouTube Step 7.jpg
7
Market your videos elsewhere. Don't put your videos just on YouTube! Start a blog, make a website or post them on other video or social media sites. The more views it gets, the better. By sharing the link or embedding the video on the internet, you are increasing the chance of it getting noticed and of you making money.
Earn Money on YouTube Step 8.jpg
8
Become a YouTube partner. YouTube Partners are YouTube members who have monetized videos with a large number of viewers. Partners gain access to more content creation tools, and can win prizes for the number of viewers they have. Partners also get access to much more community support and tips.
You can apply for YouTube partnership at any time through the YouTube Partner page. In order to gain access to the most powerful Partner programs, you need to have 15,000 cumulative watch hours for your channel over the last 90 days.

This step by step guide will teach you how to make SIX pointed paper snowflakes. Most people make (and most how-tos teach) snowflakes with four or eight points. Real snowflakes in nature form with six points (or occasionally three if they formed weird) so I choose to make my own with six points. I taught myself this technique in high school and have been making paper snowflakes around Christmas time ever since.
All you will need for this is paper and scissors. Some people like to use fancy paper, but I use plain white copy paper because somehow the simplicity of white is more beautiful to me.
If you want to view a gallery of my snowflakes, see me on Flickr: Paper Snowflake Gallery.

Step 1: Step 1
Picture of Step 1
First, begin with a square piece of copy paper. I usually make two snowflakes for every 8.5"x11" piece of paper, so I first cut the paper in half, and then make a square from each half. This makes a snowflake about 5" across. If you're just learning to make snowflakes, using a full piece of paper for each snowflake may be easier to practice with.
You can make a square from a rectangular piece of paper simply by folding one corner down to form an isosceles triangle (like the one in the next step) and trimming off the excess paper.
Step 2: Step 2
Picture of Step 2
Fold the square of paper diagonally to make a triangle.
Step 3: Step 3
Picture of Step 3
Fold this larger triangle in half to make a smaller triangle.
Step 4: Step 4
Picture of Step 4
Step 4-5.jpg
Imagine the triangle in thirds, and fold the right third over, as shown. If you want to be precise and have a protractor, each "third" in this step is a 30 degree angle.
See the explanation above, from a worksheet I made up, which should help to explain folding in thirds a little better.
Step 5: Step 5
Picture of Step 5
Fold the left third over. Try to get all of the folds to line up as close as possible for the most symmetrical snowflake.

how is everyone getting a square from the copy paper mine keeps coming up with rectangle and so i cant make a triangle and my daughters frozen bday is tomorrow im having such bad luck i guess im being dumb from lack of sleep lol
ReadsInTrees (author) leelee.susie1 month agoReply
Fold one corner of the paper all the way down to one side. Like, if you're holding the paper upright (like you're reading a letter), fold the upper left hand corner all the way down so that it touches the right side of the paper. The edge of the paper that used to be at the top going horizontally should line up evenly with the right hand vertical side of the paper. What you'll have is a large triangle with a narrow piece of rectangular paper along the bottom. Cut off that rectangle, and you'll have a square already folded into the first triangle.

So these instructions are Awesome!!! Thank you!!!
I'm doing a Frozen theme for my daughters 1st birthday
Going to find some glittery blue craft paper today (hopefully) and do some more to hang up on a white tablecloth.
There is a Frozen PDF on Google with Frozen theme templates, going to give them a go next, but they cut the bottom straight.. So that might be different :)
Thanks again!! Great instructions :)

hellllppppp!!!! at number 6 step i end up cutting the snowflake in half! what am i doing wrong?????
phyllis.jefferson.90 kaylah12 months agoReply
your cutting the middle part be sure to start cutting a little at first until you get the hang of it then u can get a little more creative with it once you can kind of see which side goes to what hope this helps
NancyG3 kaylah12 months agoReply
Kaylah1, I'm not sure what is happening to you. But maybe this will help. Think of each fold as the radius/spoke of the snowflake. The point of the triangle is the center. The end with the 2 "bunny ears" is the outside edge. You may want to skip step 4C (I don't see a step labeled 6) and see if that helps.
I might also recommend making a partial cut then unfolding your snowflake and see what the effect is. Then refold. It might help you map the whole process into you head.
Hang in there. This particular project was simple for me. But I have struggled with this type of thing in the past. Typically it's a matter of one simple step that I just didn't get at first. Then once I got it - BAM! Don't give up.

haha omg thats funny
ReadsInTrees (author) kaylah13 months agoReply
You may be cutting too low? This is a step where you do chop off a big chunk, but only the top. If you folded correctly to this point, you'll see that the top of the snowflake has those two paper corners making a V shape at the top. You'll be cutting those off. We need to even out the layers of folds so that everything is symmetrical, and by making the cut at an angle, that makes the final points of the snowflake.

Simple and easy. Great instructions. One additional hint - sharp scissors make this easier. Smaller scissors will give you more control over intricate details.

Give it another go, and try to follow the steps very carefully so that you don't miss any folds.

Thank you very much for the step by step directions, they are easy to follow. The only trouble I had at first was figuring out which side you should cut off once you have it folded in thirds. I had to try it twice, but once I figured it out, it made really awesome snowflakes. I'm going to making snowflakes this afternoon for Christmas decorations with my 7 year old, which will be a blast. Thank you again! :) Happy Holidays!!!

I'm sorry to bother you, but did you get the first 6 steps from making a star? I was just wondering because I have been doing those steps for over 10 years to make perfect 6 point stars like the star of David.
ReadsInTrees (author) genny.ward.793 months agoReply
Well, since a snowflake has six points, you'd use the same steps to make a star of David. I didn't "get" them from there when I figured out these folds 15+ years ago in high school. I just worked it out after realizing that folding in half again and again would only make multiples of 4 points (4, 8, 12). So yes, if you know how to make a 6-pointed star, then it's just the same folds.

Before I retired, I had access to an awesome computer drafting program. I wrote a macro to draw snowflakes by drawing the first 30 degree segment freehand, then using mirror, rotate, and copy commands to complete each intricate design.
